I attended Yoga For Golfers Teacher Training in November 2017 and received my L1 certification. The Yoga For Golfers founder, Katherine Roberts, has developed a proprietary methodology that instructs and trains golfers on the biomechanics of the body specifically as it relates to each plane of motion through each stage of the golf swing – from the address to the finish position, from the 1st tee to the 18th green. The Yoga For Golfers program has licensed instructors in North America, Europe, Middle East, and Asia. This Summer (2018), I will begin work with a group called, “The First Tee” which is an opportunity for young people between 7 and 18 years old to participate in learning how to play golf and also learn some great life values that will support them as they grow into adults. I provided “Yoga for Golfers” (YFG) instruction to this group of young people as part of a performance enhancement effort for their golf game in June 2018.
Yoga For Golfers focuses on:
- Quieting the mind and proper breathing techniques to achieve focus and relaxation.
- Achieving body symmetry, balance, and alignment through the swing to increase power.
- Enhancing flexibility and core development to improve mobility, strength, power and endurance.
I am also exploring providing Yoga for Golfers at the golf clubs in the Knoxville region. YFG truly supports golf instruction provided by golf teaching professionals. Golf pros focus on biomechanics of the golf swing. YFG focuses on biomechanics of the body through the swing. Together, golfers are provided with a great foundation to play their best game.
